Weymouth Olympics
Over the last year or so RJS Window Cleaning Services Ltd and our sister company RJS Cleaning Management Ltd have had a steady flow of work relating to the Weymouth Olympics, including two major contracts for cleaning work – one at at Morrisons and one at Marks and Spencer for the refits of their stores. We were also the cleaning contractors for Sail for Gold Olympic trials last year, with the promise of the full cleaning contract for the Olympics. We cleaned windows on all the councils B&B on the seafront and also had a few smaller jobs that related to the Olympics.
We may have gained all of this work anyway if the Olympics had not come to Weymouth ,But over the last two years we have gained a steady add on to our income because of Olympics, which has been very welcome in very hard business times.
On the down side we have lost major cleaning contracts at The Boat That Rocks for 3 months because it had to shut for the Olympics. We also never got any where near the cleaning contract for Olympics after being promised that if we did well at Sail for Gold Olympic trial (which we did) we would have the contract. The contract went to a National Company for which I believe the deal was done years ago with one of Seb Coes mates !!!. We also clean holiday lets, which in August should be fully booked. But this August we had less change overs than we had in April.This was down to civil servants with no business skills promoting the Olympics, they were more concerned in getting the road systems to work than getting people to Weymouth.
Summing Up Business wise we made a little money, not as much as we could have had. We had the crumbles and establishment had the cream. The local Businesses of Weymouth were led up the garden path by civil servants on a jolly for 5 years. I just hope they do not start patting themselves on the back because in the real world you would not last five minutes.
But I did enjoy last couple of weeks of Weymouth Sailing Olympics and Weymouth came over as a beautiful place to live (which we all know that anyhow) Hopefully many people will now come to Weymouth to invest money in the town and enjoy the great place called Weymouth.
