Weymouth Town Centre Being Killed Claims TV Expert

HEFTY parking prices and a rundown town centre are killing Weymouth , according to a TV business expert.

Mr Burch, who visited Weymouth and Dorchester in 2010 returned to both towns recently. He, said that whilst the county town hadn’t changed much, Weymouth had ‘definitely deteriorated.’
Mr Burch, who presents ‘All Over the Shop’ on BBC2, said: “Weymouth is an attractive, quirky town and it should be a destination town.
I agree with some of what Mr Burch says about Weymouth, I think Weymouth High Street is no different than any other town of a similar size.
Weymouth town centre will never compete with the big city shopping centres (Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth) and with Internet shopping, supermarkets selling all sorts of things other than food. The High Street is changing all over the country.

As we all know it is a very hard time to be in business at the moment, We at RJS Window Cleaning Services Ltd have had to go back in to the domestic window cleaning because of government cut backs in our commercial window cleaning side of the business.
So High Street shops need to change the way they do business to compete in a changing market place. Mr Burch is right when he says Hefty parking charges and run down High Streets are killing towns but all local businesses need to work together to promote our local area, not be negative about our local area. How is that going to get people to come to Weymouth.
